Class of 2005
Anabelle H. played the part of the lead chorus girl in the Manhattan Middle School production of "Grease" in December 2007. Annabelle also appeared in Boulder Ballet’s production of Mary Poppins in March 2008.
Happy Hour, a band including Friends’ graduates Jack H. (Friends’ class of 2005), Lucas H. (Friends’ class of 2004), and Tim C. (Friends’ class of 2003) performed at the Boulder Creek Festival in May 2007.
Jack H. was chosen to participate in and represent Manhattan Middle School as an alternate in the Math Counts competition, a Boulder Valley District-wide math competition. After weeks of preparation and a final test, Jack competed as an alternate for the Manhattan team. In March, 2007, he played the lead of “Romeo” in Manhattan Middle School’s performance of Romeo and Juliet in March. In April 2007, he also played the part of the mayor in Manhattan’s spring musical “Seussical”. In December 2007, he played the part of Kinicki in the Manhattan Middle School production of "Grease".
After making her presentation to parents last year, Sofie H. (graduating class of 2005) has been teaching a health and nutrition class at Friends’ to students during the 2006-07 school year. Her class teaches students how to prepare healthy breakfasts and pack their own lunches. Sofie’s middle school, Platt Choice, requires students to provide 15 hours of community service. Sofie typically logs between 40-50 hours each school year including babysitting and volunteering at the senior center in addition to her work at Friends’.
Ryan H. took 7th place in the boys 11-12 silver division of the Nastar National Championship in the Giant Slalom event in Steamboat Springs on March 23 and 24th, 2006. Ryan also took 3rd place in the men’s 10-12 age group ski division of the Steamboat Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge Championships on March 31, 2007.
Sarah M. won the Dawson Middle School Shakespeare contest for the seventh grade with her performance from The Taming of the Shrew.
Willie S., Class of 2005 and Peter S., Class of 2004, performed with their band at the Boulder Creek Festival in May. Both alumni study guitar with Friends’ music teacher, Harwood Ferguson.
