Middle School

Integration, Innovation, and Insight are the pillars of our Middle School Program.

The same holistic philosophy that has been the cornerstone of Friends preschool and elementary school for over 30 years now guides our program for students in 6th through 8th grade.

Opened in 2016 on our beautifully renovated 2.34 acre North Campus at 3800 Kalmia Avenue in North Boulder, our students enjoy an optimum learning environment. Large maker and collaboration spaces allow students to exercise design thinking skills, enjoy hands-on creative activities, engage in project-based learning experiences, and support dynamic teaching and learning.

We are thrilled to bring a Friends School education to students in 6th-8th grades and offer a compelling new option for Boulder area families.
We know what middle schoolers need:
  • Opportunities to think abstractly and creatively
  • Strong safe relationships with adults and peers
  • Chances to explore who they are and who they want to become
  • Challenging academics that have meaning and relevance now
  • Support for their growing independence
  • Social and emotional support as they move through adolescence
  • To feel valued and have purpose
  • To be exceptionally well prepared for high school
What we offer:
  • A place where positive relationships are foundational to all learning
  • Hands-on learning experiences that integrate curriculum
  • Inquiry-based explorations of compelling concepts and questions
  • Student voice and choice in how we approach learning endeavors
  • Meaningful connections in the community through service and research

  • Outstanding preparation for the challenges of high school

"Seeing the Friends philosophy applied in middle school is a dream come true. Middle school is a critical period when social skills are being tested and developed and fundamental attitudes about school are forming and changing. What better time for my child to benefit from Friends’ expertise in developing social-emotional skills and nurturing a love of learning?"
