After a student is admitted, final tuition is determined by placement within available tiers on the sliding scale and then applying any adjustments or additional financial aid if applicable.
Sliding Scale Tuition
Friends School offers a sliding scale for tuition in an effort to promote economic diversity within the school population. Friends scaled tuition is based on adjusted gross income per family, with limits on the number of discounts awarded in each tier. Tiers are processed and awarded based on the order in which they are received and the availability in each tier. Three tuition payment plans are available: annual, semi-annual, or monthly. All tuition payments are made to Friends School through Tuition Management Systems (TMS).
Current re-enrolling families who feel they qualify for a tuition tier, should submit a Tuition Tier Request Form along with the first two pages of their 2015 IRS 1040 tax return to the Business Office no later than January 2, 2016. Enrollment Contracts are mailed in January.
New Applicant families who have been officially accepted for enrollment and feel they qualify for a tuition tier, will need to submit the Tuition Tier Request Form and the first two pages of their 2015 IRS 1040 tax return to the Business Office prior to the due date on their enrollment contract.
Contact Jen Cope in the Business Office at ext. 256 for more information.
Supplemental financial aid assistance is also available on a limited basis for families with demonstrated financial need. Approximately one third of Friends students receive supplemental financial assistance each year. Financial Aid enrollment begins January 18, 2016. Financial aid applications must be completed by your child's contract due date in order to be considered.
