“Conferring with Students with Mark Overmeyer”
About the Training…
In the writing workshop, conferences provide an opportunity for you to support your students’ growth and independence. Conferring can happen in many formats, including individual teacher led conferences, small group sessions, and peer led conferences. The sessions offered will support you as you develop and maintain conferring structures that will work best for your situation. Appropriate for any writing teacher!
- 6 hour training broken into 3 2-hour sessions. November 6, 13, & 20 (4:00-6:00 PM)
- cost is $150 per person.

About the Trainer…
Mark Overmeyer has had more than 30 years of classroom experiences in grades 2-8, and at the college level. He is the author of four Stenhouse titles on the teaching of writing and he currently supports schools in the US and abroad as they set up or maintain reading and writing workshops. Mark is also a long-time and beloved presenter for the Friends TPP!

About the Training…
Positive Discipline is an encouragement model for classroom management that fosters mutual respect, cooperation, and responsibility. Learn how to implement these effective strategies that focus on solutions instead of punishments and rewards. It just feels better for everyone!
- 6 hour training broken into two 3-hour sessions. November 2 & 16 (9 AM – 12 PM)

Tricia Callahan is the Literacy Resource Teacher at Friends School. She has been teaching for 31 years. Tricia took her first course in Positive Discipline in 1990 and has been effectively using the model ever since. She is a certified Positive Discipline Classroom Educator. In her spare time Tricia enjoys, reading, hiking, and yoga.
