I’m so excited to be joining the Friends School community as a teacher candidate this year! Before starting this chapter of my life, I worked in the equine industry (managing facilities, teaching riding lessons, training horses, etc.) and I’ve been tutoring elementary school kids, too. The brightness that kids bring to my life – their humor and the way they see the world – is what made me choose teaching as my next adventure. Between my work with horses and my time working with kids, I’ve come to believe that teaching the whole individual is the best way to help them grow and thrive. I am thrilled to spend my residency year in this community of teachers and learners that work so hard to do just that! I look forward to meeting all of you and learning alongside you!
After finishing the Friends Teacher Preparation Program, I plan to complete a master’s degree that focuses on early literacy and, eventually, to work with elementary school students as a literacy specialist.
Outside of the classroom, I spend my time riding and training horses, skiing, playing music, playing with my dog and spending time with family and friends. I’m a huge fan of CU’s basketball teams and, when it comes to hockey, the Pittsburgh Penguins are my team of choice. I also love to travel and quilt.
