Teacher Candidate - 2/3
I have a vivid memory of sitting in my small, elementary school desk, when my teacher asked the class, “‘what do you want to be when you grow up?” My classmates shouted that they wanted to be astronauts, doctors, and even the President of the United States. Not me—I wanted to be a teacher. My dream was fueled by my elementary school teachers’ special approach to educating. Even at a young age, I recognized how fortunate I was that they all had such compassion, patience and a way to make learning fun. Because of them, I still want to be a teacher today.
I am fortunate to be a Colorado native, raised in Colorado Springs. I moved to Boulder in 2008 to attend CU where I received my BS in Business with an emphasis in Marketing and Management. While my original career path in Marketing deviated from my original childhood dream of teaching, it did provide fruitful experiences that will aid me in my journey of becoming an educator.
I’ve always been drawn to the field of education, which I attribute to my passion for helping others, my curiosity and endless desire to learn and grow, along with my aspiration to make a difference in our society. I am incredibly thankful for this opportunity to be a teacher candidate at Friends School.
I have an adorable fur baby named Ellie. I enjoy music, art, reading, hiking, skiing, and most outdoor activities—typical Coloradoan.
