Chris Willis grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan, then headed to Philadelphia for her undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania – at Penn, she discovered her interest in the learning sciences. She pursued that interest through a career in education publishing, professional development for math and science teachers, and the application of theories of learning to effect change in corporate cultures. Mid-career, she earned her Ph.D. and Academic Certification in educational psychology and cognitive science at the University of Colorado – taking a deep dive into theory and research. Chris’s refreshed perspective, her academic focus on narrative and the use of video, and a full appreciation for the interplay between research, theory and practice, profoundly informed her subsequent work in universities, school systems and corporate settings.
Chris loves the outdoors and active sports, logging many happy hours on lakes, ski slopes, tennis courts, ice rinks, soccer fields and mountain trails. She’s the very happy mom of an 8th grader at Friends School and a senior at Boulder High. And she’s grateful for the opportunity to serve the Friends School community as it grows and evolves.
