Jenny grew up in a Maryland suburb of Washington, DC. After graduating cum laude from Georgetown University with a BA in Philosophy (with minors in English and Psychology), she pursued a career in art therapy. She graduated from The George Washington University with an MA in Art Therapy, and spent the next three years pouring her heart and soul into her dream job as an art therapist in the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology department of Georgetown University Hospital. It was an emotionally and spiritually challenging environment, but also every bit as fulfilling as it was taxing. She loved her work.
With a baby on the way, Jenny and her husband Seth moved to Lafayette, CO in 2011.
While Jenny’s dream job was doing pediatric art therapy, her true calling is motherhood. She feels incredibly lucky to be able to stay home and focus on raising her two daughters while they are young.
Jenny’s older daughter attended Friends for both years of preschool and will enter Kindergarten in the Fall of 2016. Drawn to the school because its emphasis on social-emotional development, Jenny has been impressed with the teachers’ deep commitment to the school’s mission statement of educating the whole child head, hand, and heart. She is thrilled to be part of such a dynamic group of trustees, and looks forward to helping the faculty, staff, and board protect the values that have made Friends such an exceptional learning community for almost 30 years while ushering it through an exciting period of expansion.
In addition to mothering, Jenny enjoys serving on a board for a nonprofit that helps kids and teens who stutter gain confidence and communication skills. As a person who stutters, this advocacy and fundraising work is deeply meaningful to her. In her free time, you can find her busting a move in family pajama dance parties, making new connections on the Friends playground, or traveling with her family.
