I grew up in Lawrence, Kansas. As a child, I loved stories and could spend hours entertaining myself reading, writing, or just in the world of my imagination. I went to the University of Kansas to study English and then later came to Colorado, where I completed a master’s degree in creative nonfiction writing at Colorado State University. I love cooking, swing dancing, and puns. I am also an AFAA certified group fitness instructor.

I’ve spent the past seven years teaching writing at CSU, and although I loved that job in many ways, I’m excited to be teaching younger students and in a wider variety of disciplines. As a teacher, I seek to honor the diversity of students’ interests, backgrounds, identities, and learning needs. I’m excited to learn from the Friends team this year!
